How do I use the custom editor?

We are currently running two versions of our editor, so some steps outlined in this article may differ slightly, though the overall steps remain the same. If you experience any confusion please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Our web based editor for creating custom colours and designs is super easy to use! It works best with Chrome or Safari (other browsers are not supported). Note: whilst our custom editor works on mobile, we currently recommend using a desktop or tablet for the best experience.

1. Launch the editor

Just tap the 'Design Backdrop' button shown on products that have customisation options available. The editor should load after a few seconds (have patience as it can take a little longer sometimes).

2. Add your Project Name

Tap the 'PROJECT NAME' placeholder in the layers panel then type in your desired project name. If you're on a mobile device and can't see the placeholder, tap the 'Layers' icon to show the layers panel. Your project name will be printed at the top of your artwork in the white branded strip. For custom colours, we recommend putting you colour reference as the title for easy identification when ordering many colours, and to help when ordering reprints in future.

3. Design your backdrop

To edit solid coloured areas, select them by tapping on them in the design directly or by selecting the appropriate layer in the layers panel. You can then change the colour by opening the colour picker that appears in the toolbar above. Choose from our palette or insert precise CMYK, RGB or Hex values. Tap the 'CMYK' dropdown to switch between colour modes.

To upload images, tap the black image icon wherever they're shown. A modal will appear allowing you to upload a new image or choose from any previously uploaded images. Ensure your images are of a suitable resolution to fill the required space when printed at 300dpi.

4. Approve your design

Once your design is ready to go, tap either the ' Approval' tab or the 'Next' button above the design. You'll be presented with a final proof. Review your design and ensure everything is designed in accordance with our proofing guide, then check the approval box and 'Add to cart'. Your design is ready!

5. Having trouble?

If you're having any trouble with the editor, just give us a shout and we'll do all we can to help! 😀
